Connect Your Financial Accounts with Plaid

Plaid account linking makes it easier to connect your Armco Checking Account to eligible accounts at other financial institutions and supported financial apps. Whether you have money at another bank or use payment, budgeting, or investment services, Plaid helps make the connection.

So, what is Plaid?

Plaid is a technology service that helps you connect eligible financial accounts to supported apps and services. When you choose to connect an account, Plaid helps establish the connection so information can be shared for the service you selected. Plaid is not a bank and does not replace your Armco Credit Union account.

How does Plaid work?

When you choose a feature that uses Plaid, you’ll be guided through connecting an eligible financial account. You may be asked to select your financial institution, authenticate with that institution, and select accounts to connect. Follow the prompts and review the information-sharing disclosures before continuing. The steps and available features vary by institution and service.

Why am I seeing Plaid?

If you are connecting outside accounts to your Armco Checking Acount:
You may see Plaid when using an Armco CU feature that asks you to connect an account at another financial institution. Plaid helps connect or verify that external account for the feature you selected. Account eligibility and availability vary.

If your are connecting your Armco Checking Account to outside apps:
You may see Plaid when a supported outside app or financial service asks you to connect your Armco CU account. Plaid helps establish the connection requested through that service. Available accounts and features depend on the app and connection.

What kinds of things can I connect?

Depending on the financial institution, account type, app or service, and Plaid products in use, you may be able to connect eligible checking or savings accounts and supported services used for payments, budgeting, saving, investing, and other money-management activities. Availability and features vary.

Example: money at another bank
Suppose you keep savings at another bank or credit union. If your account, that institution, and the feature you are using are supported, Plaid may help verify and connect the account. Any available transfer features are offered by Armco CU or the connected app or service and are subject to their terms and limits.

Example: a payment app
If a supported payment app offers Plaid as a connection option and your Armco CU checking account is eligible, you may be able to select Armco CU, authenticate your account, and review and approve the information you permit to be shared. What the app can do after the connection depends on that service.

Example: a budgeting app
A supported budgeting service may use Plaid to connect to account information you authorize, such as balances or transactions, so the service can help organize your financial picture without you entering every transaction manually. Availability depends on your institution, account type, and the service.

Example: an investing or savings service
Some supported investing or savings services use Plaid to help connect an eligible financial account for features the service offers, such as deposits, withdrawals, or account information. The exact features depend on your institution, account type, and the service.

Connecting an account does not, by itself, initiate a transfer. Any available transfer features, timing, fees, and limits depend on Armco CU or the app or service providing them.

Is Plaid secure?

Plaid uses encryption and other security controls designed to help protect financial information during the connection process. Account connections begin with your permission. You choose which eligible account to connect and review and approve the information you permit to be shared.

Do I have to use Plaid?

Only if you choose to connect your account to a supported app or service that uses Plaid. Member and account eligibility and the service’s requirements apply.

What information is shared when I connect an account?

The information shared depends on the app or service you’re using and the connection you authorize. It may include account details, balances, transaction history, or account-owner information. Review the disclosures during the connection process and the privacy notices for Plaid and the service you’re using.

Does connecting my account automatically transfer money?

Connecting an account does not, by itself, initiate a transfer. Any payment or transfer features depend on Armco CU or the connected app or service and are subject to its authorization requirements, terms, and limits.

Why can’t I find my financial institution?

Not every financial institution is available for every app or feature. Try searching for your institution’s full name. If it does not appear, contact the service you’re using to ask whether another connection or verification method is available.

Can I disconnect an account?

ou can manage supported Plaid connections through Plaid Portal. The connected app or service may also offer a disconnection option. Disconnecting an account does not necessarily delete information already collected or cancel scheduled payments. Check with the service about data deletion and any active payment instructions.

Where can I learn more about how my information is handled?

Review Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy, along with the privacy notices provided by Armco CU and the connected app or service. These explain how the respective organizations collect, use, and handle information.
