2025 Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions Winners

Armco Credit Union would like to congratulate Jordyn Slater for receiving a $1,500 scholarship and Jessica Cornell for receiving a $500 scholarship from the Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions!

Jordyn and Jessica are two of five recipients to receive scholarships from the Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions. As members of Armco Credit Union, they were eligible to apply for the scholarship. Both women are graduates of Butler Area High School.

Jordyn SlaterJordyn Slater

Jordyn Slater graduated from Butler Area High School. She will attend West Virginia University to pursue a Chemical Engineering degree. Beyond the classroom, Jordyn is active in National Honors Society, Butler High School Volleyball Team, Best Buddies, Butler High School Unified Bocce Team, Butler High School Unified Track, Spanish Club, Engineering Club, and a graduate of the Butler County Youth Leadership Program.

Driven by her desire to contribute meaningfully to her community, Jordyn is an afterschool mentor at Broad Street Elementary. As philanthropy chair for the Butler Girls Volleyball, “Dig Pink” fundraiser the team contributed to the Butler Cancer Center Foundation to help patients going through breast cancer treatment. She volunteers at the Butler VA Student Summer Program, and at Saint Clare of Assisi Parish. With a solid academic background, she also finds time to hostess at Red Lobster.

Jessica Cornell graduated from Butler Senior High and will attend Penn State majoring in Animal Sciences with a pre-vet focus. She was a member of the Sequinette Flag Team for the Butler Marching Band, the Latin Club, and the ski club. She was the vice president of the Lucky 7 4-H Horse Club, volunteering at various community events. Jessica was also a Legacy Pines Equestrian Team member, competing with her two horses, Tyra and Hitch. She is an active participant in Young Life of Butler County. Jessica works for Target as a guest services representative.
